The iPhone 17 in short
Apple released the iPhone 17 on September 19, 2025, as the new base model of the series. It is the first non-Pro iPhone with a ProMotion screen: the 6.3-inch OLED display refreshes up to 120 times per second and reaches a peak brightness of 3000 nits. Inside is the A19 chip. On the back, there are two 48MP cameras—a main camera and an ultra-wide—and on the front is a new 18MP Center Stage camera that automatically widens the frame for group photos. The housing measures 149.6 by 71.5 by 7.95 millimeters and weighs 177 grams. Storage starts at 256 GB. Colors: lavender, sage, mist blue, white, and black.
The iPhone 17 series: which model do you have?
The iPhone 17 generation consists of five models, each with its own dimensions. Therefore, a case will only ever fit one specific model. Check Settings > General > About to see which iPhone you have, and compare below.
iPhone 17

iPhone 17 Pro
The same screen size as the iPhone 17, but in an aluminum unibody with a built-in vapor chamber for cooling. The wide camera plateau contains a 48MP telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. Because of that plateau, the Pro is thicker and an iPhone 17 case will not fit it. For this, you need an iPhone 17 Pro case.
iPhone 17 Pro Max

iPhone Air
At 5.64 millimeters, the thinnest iPhone ever made, in a titanium frame with a single 48MP camera in a band across the top. Due to that deviant shape, no other iPhone 17 case will fit the Air.
iPhone 17e
The entry-level model, released in March 2026. The 17e has a 6.1-inch screen with a notch, one camera, and no Camera Control. It is smaller than the iPhone 17, so cases are not interchangeable.
Does an iPhone 16 case fit the iPhone 17?
No. The iPhone 17 has a larger screen than the iPhone 16—6.3 versus 6.1 inches—and is 2 millimeters taller. The camera island also has a different shape. Consequently, an iPhone 16 case will be tight, won't fit properly around the camera, or will partially cover a lens. For a good fit, choose a phone case for the iPhone 17 specifically made for this model.
